- Staff
Brandon Stein was born and raised in Mundelein, Illinois. He attended Mundelein High School before moving to Chicago and attending DePaul University's School of Computer Science, Telecommunications and Information Systems. Stein resides in Wrigleyville in Chicago with his wife Tiffany and their two cats, Firefly and Gus.
While growing up, Stein was an avid Chicago Bulls, Cubs and Bears fan. His love of sports led to an interest in data and statistics. He took an interest in computers at a young age, playing sports video games on an i486 computer. He took Visual Basic programming and web design classes in high school and created a band website for a final project. The website was used by the school and was revolutionary for its time.
A Conversation with Brandon Stein
How do you help students?
As the director of Philanthropy Operations, I help manage our alumni database to ensure future students stay in the loop about all things TAMUC. I also help ensure funds are generated to support capital projects and scholarships. I work with graduate assistants and student workers to help them prepare for a career in fundraising, business analytics, or computer science.
Why did you choose your career/what draws you to your discipline?
I have always had a passion for technology, and serving in a fundraising department as an educated IT professional is a unique opportunity.
Tell us about an accomplishment you are proud of.
One of my accomplishments, which I am most proud of, is passing the 150-question Blackbaud Raiser's Edge professional test within the first month of availability, becoming one of the first in the world to do so.
What else would you like to share about yourself or your A&M-Commerce experience?
I am a die-hard Chicago sports fan who roots for the Cubs, Bulls, Bears, Blackhawks and Sky. I look forward to adopting our A&M-Commerce sports teams as my new college allegiance.
